Making your guidebook searchable on Google (SEO indexing)

Want your guidebook to show up in Google or Bing search results? SmoothStay gives you the option to enable SEO indexing, which allows search engines to crawl and index your guidebook.

This may help hosts who want to:

  • Promote their property publicly

  • Share recommendations with a wider audience

  • Build discoverability through search engines

🔍 Guidebook is Indexable by Search Engines

When this option is enabled, search engines like Google and Bing will be able to discover and list your guidebook in search results.

⚠️ Important Requirements: Your guidebook must be publicly visible for this option to work.
(You can set this in the Privacy and Security tab.)

What to Know Before Enabling:

  • Indexing is not immediate. It may take days or weeks for your guidebook to appear in search results.

  • Removing it later isn’t instant either. Search engines may continue to show cached versions temporarily.

  • Use with caution. If your guidebook contains sensitive or private content, we recommend keeping this option disabled.

📌 If you're unsure whether to enable this setting, it's best to leave it off by default.

How to Enable SEO Indexing

  1. Go to your Unit > Visibility & Sharing tab

  2. Click on the Search Engines sub-tab

  3. Check the box: "Guidebook is indexable by search engines"

  4. Make sure your guidebook is also set to be visible to public visitors
