Privacy and security

SmoothStay gives you full control over who can view your guidebook. Under the Visibility & Sharing tab of each Unit, the Privacy and Security settings allow you to manage access with just a couple of clicks.

Here’s how it works:

✅ Guidebook active

This toggle controls whether your guidebook is accessible at all.

When checked: The guidebook is active and can be accessed by anyone with a valid share link.
When unchecked: The guidebook is deactivated and no one will be able to view it — not even guests with a direct link.

Use this if you're still editing your guidebook or want to temporarily hide it from view.

🌐 Guidebook visible to all public visitors

This setting determines whether your guidebook is publicly accessible — meaning it could be accessed by anyone online, even without a share link.

When checked: Your guidebook will be publicly visible to anyone with the URL.
When unchecked (default): Only users with a share link can access it.

⚠️ Important:

Before making your guidebook public, make sure it doesn’t include:

Personal contact information
Entry codes, Wi-Fi passwords, or other sensitive details
Private guest instructions meant only for confirmed bookings

📌 Tip: Most hosts keep their guidebooks private and share them directly with guests. Public visibility is optional and ideal for marketing or showcasing your space.

Where to Find These Settings

Go to the Units tab
Select your guidebook
Open the Visibility & Sharing tab
Click on Privacy and Security
