How SmoothStay handles property addresses
Where your address lives in SmoothStay depends on your business type. Short-term rentals set an address on each property. Hotels, B&Bs, campsites, glamping sites and boats set one shared address for the whole organization. This article explains why, and where to edit each.
The rule, by business type
You choose a business type when you set up your account, and it decides how addresses work:
Short-term rental (Airbnb, Vrbo, vacation homes): each property has its own address.
Hotel / B&B (rooms or units): all rooms share one address.
Campsite / RV (pitches, RV spots, cabins): all pitches share one address.
Glamping (domes, yurts, treehouses): all units share one address.
Boat (yachts, houseboats, sailing charters): all vessels share one address.
The logic: an STR portfolio is a set of separate buildings in separate places, so each property carries its own address. A hotel, campsite or glamping site is one place with many units inside it, so a single shared address keeps every room or pitch consistent.
Where to manage the address
Short-term rentals: on each property π‘
Open the property, go to the Profile tab, and select Location in the left menu. You'll find:
Property address: the full address guests see in their guidebook, with a map so you can confirm the pin is in the right place.
Edit address: update or correct the address at any time.
Location image (optional): a photo of the front of the property, used as the cover image for its location in the guidebook.
Directions to the property (optional): how to get there, useful where GPS isn't reliable.
Each STR property has its own Location panel, so you set the address, map pin, and location image individually.
Hotels, campsites, glamping, boats: at the organization level βοΈ
Go to Settings β Location and set the address once. Every room, pitch or unit inherits it automatically. The only thing you set on each unit is its unit number.
Why this matters for your guidebook
Your address appears as a pin on your guidebook map, with the location image and directions. Anyone who opens the guidebook can see it. Your AI Concierge also uses the address to answer location questions, like "What's the address for my taxi?"
Want more control? Share the address in an article instead
If you hide the map pin and put the address in a guidebook article, you choose who sees it and when. Like any article, it can be limited to specific properties and shown only during a set window around each reservation.
Good to know: Hiding the pin only removes it from the map. Your AI Concierge still knows your address and will share it when a guest asks.
Step 1: Hide the map pin
Short-term rentals: open the property, go to Profile β Location, and turn off Show pinβ¦.
Hotels, campsites, glamping, boats: go to Settings β Location and turn it off there.

Step 2: Create one "Getting there" article for all your properties
Create an article and name it "Getting there" or "Directions to the property."
In the description, you can add
{{UNIT:ADDRESS}},{{UNIT:DIRECTIONS}}, or both. These Data Dictionary placeholders fill in each unit's details automatically. In the Media Cover tab, select Location image (dynamic).
In the Map Display tab, select Use related unit or property's location (dynamic).
Set the article's Visibility: choose which units or tag it appears on and, if you want, show it only during each guest's reservation window.
Tip: Because the text, image and map pin in this article are all dynamic, one article works for every property. Just make sure each unit's location is filled in.
